Radiesse Fillers Q and A
Radiesse Fillers Q and A

How long do Radiesse fillers last?

With the right treatment and aftercare, Radiesse fillers can last for a remarkably long time! According to a study published in the National Institutes of Health, over 80% of patients report satisfaction with persistent results after 12 months of Radiesse filler treatment. Moreover, patients typically see natural-looking results immediately after the injection, with some experiencing lasting results for up to two years. The calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres that Radiesse fillers are composed of work immediately upon injection by creating volume in the injection site. CaHA contains phosphate and calcium ions and is highly biocompatible with human skin.

Will Radiesse ever go away?

Although Radiesse fillers are very long-lasting, your body will eventually break down and eliminate the calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres from the injection. However, the length of time it will take for Radiesse to completely dissipate varies according to your metabolism and lifestyle. As such, if you have a fast metabolism and exercise regularly, you are more likely to burn through fillers at a quicker rate than other people. Conversely, if you have a slower metabolism and exercise only on occasion, your fillers will likely last longer than the average patient.

If you are experiencing any complications following a Radiesse injection treatment, please feel free to get in touch with us! Our expert medical estheticians can evaluate the issue and make any necessary corrections. The vast majority of our patients are highly satisfied with their results from Radiesse treatment, so we hope that you will be too!

Does Radiesse build collagen?

After the calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres in the Radiesse filler provide volume in the injection site, they also start to stimulate your body to produce collagen in the treatment area. The added production of collagen, which is a naturally occurring protein in your body that is primarily responsible for creating new connective tissues, provides your skin with its own natural dermal filler. As such, the collagen production from CaHA microspheres is what gives Radiesse it’s long-lasting effects.

What areas of the body can Radiesse treat?

Radiesse has received approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with indications for use in the treatment of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, including nasolabial folds (i.e., smile lines), marionette lines, oral commissures (i.e., corners of the mouth), pre-jowl folds, and chin wrinkles. The FDA has also approved Radiesse for use in treating facial fat loss, also known as lipoatrophy, in individuals who suffer from the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), as well as hand augmentation to correct volume loss on the back of the hand. At Reddy Aesthetics, we are happy to provide Radiesse fillers for hand augmentation and for the treatment of facial folds, wrinkles, and added volume!
